Arne Halvorsen is a Norwegian furniture designer and interior designer. For two decades he was one of the Norways leading designers. Halvorsen's furniture is characterized by a distinctive formality. When Halvorsen joined SHKS in 1955, he designed a table for Rasmus Solberg Furniture Shop in Ski. The same year he started as a designer at Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor. In 1960 Halvorsen established its own branch office. The same year he received the first prize for the dining chair 9 - better known as Jæren. For his furniture design, he has received the Good Design Award eight times.
