Beautiful pair of Sterling Silver clip earrings from the jewelry series "Speil" (mirror) by Grete Prytz Kittelsen for J. Tostrup, Oslo Norway 1953. Leaf-shaped clip earrings with punched out fields, made in oxidized silver 925S. Measure of each: 3.5 cmL x 2 cmW x 1 cmD. The earrings are stamped Sterling Tostrup Norway.

Grete Prytz Kittelsen (1917-2010) was born into one of Norway's largest goldsmith families, J. Tostrup. It was through her technical skill and creativity that she positioned herself in a Norwegian and international context. Grete used new enamelling techniques and the treatment of the silver surface. A simplified production process would enable the post-war requirements for more beautiful everyday goods. This built on old Norwegian traditions with foliage and decor and enamel where small round portions are punched out and bent forward.
