These special and very rare pair of armchairs are designed by Norwegian designer Fredrik Kayser for Rastad & Relling and manufactured by Hjelm & Årnes.
The chairs are from 1955
 and this model was once placed in the Parliaments studentapartments in Oslo, Norway.  The frame is made of teak with new upholstred back and new seat cushions upholstered in black woolfabric.

Fredrik Kayser (1924-1968) was an outstanding furniture designer in the Scandinavian Design period in the 1950s / 60s. His furniture was characterized by elegant design and material sensitivity. Several of his furniture has long gone into the design history.
In the period 1952 to 1956, Kayser again worked for Rastad & Relling.
