Unique vintage Ceramic vase with running glaze by the Norwegian artist Erik Pløen (1925-2004). A midcentury stoneware vase with semigloss colored subdued and rustic shades of magenta, gold, brown and gray glaze. The piece is in excellent condition and is signed Pløen Norway on the base. Measures: H: 20 cm. 15 cmD bottom, 10 cmD on top.

Erik Pløen (1925 - 2004) was a well known Norwegian potter in which set up his own pottery in 1946 in Hedmark, Norway just after the Occupation. The famous architect Eric Herløw included much of Erik Pløen work in the Paris exhibition "Formes Scandinaves" in 1958. He won the Lunning Prize and did a stint in the US as a visiting professor at the Universtity of Chicago using the burning effect of the stoneware to make at the special effect on the glaze.
After the USA visit Erik  Pløen  made a series of unique glazes that have become his trademark. He did everything himself in his shop: working, throwing and sculpting the clay, and the firing and the glazing.
