Gustav Axel Berg was the designer who in 1939 came to launch the concept of "Swedish modern" in New York. Already two years earlier, during the World Exhibition in Paris, he had been one of the leading figures in Swedish funkis. He is known for his anatomical sitting curves and innovative bendwood furniture.
