A special and rare Space Age table and ceiling lamp from the 1970s by Bent Karlby for ASK Belysninger, Denmark. The lamp consists of two removable acrylic parts. One orange mushroom shaped top shade and one white cylindershaped lamp base with an orange edge at the bottom. The lamp can also be used as a pendant by turning the white base upside down - an put the shade on top. Smart Design!
Gives a lovely and calming shine especially in darker rooms. Very good vintage condition. White cord. Measures: 24cmH x 25cmD.

Bent Karlby (1912-1998) was born in Århus Denmark. He graduated Technical School about 1932. During World War 2 was a part of the Danish resistance movement assisting Dansk-Svensk refugees. In 1943 he moved to Sweden to open a design studio in 1944.
In the early postwar years, he traveled England, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the US. It is presumed that he moved back to Denmark in the 1950s.
