A lovely vintage silver necklace called `Abstract Sun` designed by Studio Else & Paul, Hadeland Oslo - Norway. This pendant is a typical example of the 1970's ‘new’ vintage look using the technique called ‘lost-wax’ method. The jewelry was first modelled in wax, then a mould of plaster was cast around it. The wax melts when heated – liquid silver was poured into the mould while rotating. When removed from the mould, the piece is hand-finished and a layer of 999 pure silver is added for the final finish!

The mid-century designs of Else & Paul is now avidly sought after although in early years, they were considered too advant garde for most people. Labeled: Studio E & P Norway Sterling 925. Measures pendant: 6 cm H x 6 cm W x 1 cm D. Length of chain ca 60 cm. To be taken over the head. No lock. Good vintage condition!

Norwegian Else Bernstein Hughes (1938–2002) and Englishman Paul C. Hughes (1934–1981) met in 1959 at the Central School of Arts & Crafts in London. Later they established their own workshop ‘Studio Else & Paul’ in Hadelund, Nr Oslo, Norway. They became pioneers in the mid-century studio silver movement in Norway in the 1970s.

"A scandinavian midcentury modern jewelry you will be able to enjoy your whole life!"
