A lovely brutalist vintage bronze necklace with a raw unpolished amethyst stone and original bronze chain by Pentti Sarpaneeva for Torun Hopea, Finland 1960s. Natural patina with nice relieffs and decor. Stamped on back with P. Sarpaneva and Bronze. Size of pendant: 6,5 cmH x 3 cmW x 1 cmD.
Length of chain doubled: 32 cm. Hook lock and good vintage condition.

Pentti Akseli Sarpaneva (1925-78)  began his design career in the early/mid 1960s. He was a Finnish designer who specialised in affordable jewellery and other small items. His jewellery was originally made from enamel and recycled materials, moving on to cast items of bronze, silver and gold.
